Natural Resources are our best way to save our environment. I believe the main reason why people are not switching over is because the price to convert everything over. If you switch to solar panels, wind turbines, or hydro power, you can right it off in your taxes and get the money back. Most states are willing to give you money at first to help you pay for the initial installation. In the long run switching over would save you money, most people go as cheap as they can, rather then paying more at first and end up saving money over the years.

  1. How long does it take to make that money back? And can regular household systems take the power of a solar panel? Is there extra installments needed?

  2. I agree that these are necessary changes. Many people in the current state of the economy don't have the lump sums to invest in these technologies initially though. I think people who are able to (including companies) should bite the bullet and just make the switch. The more people who buy the more the cost will go down and then it would be available for those who can't pay the largest amount. The only way for it to be widespread is for some people to start the trend.

  3. That is cool how you can get these things and then put it in with your taxes and get money. I really think that if more people knew that they would get money back then more people would do it which would be awesome.

  4. I had no idea our government would help us at all. That's really cool, maybe it's time to start influencing my parents.

  6. I agree with you that people are hesitant about switching over. People just don't think about the long term savings.

  7. Tori you get them back when you file you taxes. Ask chelsea she's got solar panels. I think that you have to convert over your whole house if you want to run of solar panels entirely, it isn't as simple as just getting solar panels or what not. If you don't want to completely run of solar panels then you can use them just to heat your water.

  8. You can use solar panels for anything in your house, it doesn't have to be the whole house. Like CHOG said, Chelsea has solar panels but can't convert her whole house with only three. So they just power her water heater.

  9. That's awesome. It should be more publicized if you can get your money back, save money in the long run, and reduce your carbon footprint. Should be all over the press and the tube.

  11. I totally agree with you! There's so many alternatives out there but American's just go with the easiest and cheapest thing available to them but what they don't realize is they'd be saving a lot more money with choosing an alternative.

  12. This would all work out grat if people thought about how much they would save down the road. But they don't seem to, they think about how much money they are spending now.
