Why converting is best

Interest in renewable energy sources is growing because fossil fuels are running out. People are worried about the way burning fossil fuels damages the environment. Two main impacts on the environment are the greenhouse effect and acid rain. The greenhouse effect is caused by an increase in the concentration of gases such as carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere. This prevents heat from being radiated out into space and causes the Earth’s surface, oceans, and atmosphere to heat up. Acid rain is because gases like sulphur dioxide and nitrous oxides are released when fossil fuels are burned. They mix with rain drops to form acid rain. Acid rain can damage crops and forests, it can make lakes and rivers acidic which can harm fish and aquatic life. Switching over to renewable energy would cut our dependency on foreign countries to supply us with our energy. The best way to save our environment is to use renewable energy, and we need to make the switch as soon as possible.

  1. Acid rain doesn't sound like it would be very fun, and definitely not good for our environment. The question is, how do you stop acid rain? Renewable energy/ resources would help the problem but those burnt fuels are still in our environment.

  2. Sarah brings up such a good point. This chemicals are still in our atmosphere, it may take a long time to get them out. But we do need to make the switch so they do start to dwindle out of the atmosphere.

  3. I agree with both Joe and Sarah, it sounds virtually impossible to stop rain. I know there is a thing called cloud seeding: "Cloud seeding, a form of weather modification, is the attempt to change the amount or type of precipitation that falls from clouds, by dispersing substances into the air that serve as cloud condensation or ice nuclei, which alter the microphysical processes within the cloud. The usual intent is to increase precipitation (rain or snow), but hail and fog suppression are also widely practiced in airports."

  4. This would be hard to stop. We need to start making our changes to prevent this stuff from happening. If we don't soon i think everyone will regret it very much.

  5. People need to learn more about this so that we can stop it. I have heard about acid rain but I did not know this much and how much it can effect us.

  6. A very good point was said about acid rain. It's not good for our earth but what can we do to stop it? We really need to do things now to start changing our environment because it will only get worse and worse. I don't get why people don't want to make a change.

  7. Acid rain is in fact horrible for the environment (the name doesn't hide that fact either). Acid rain, caused by pollution can be devastating for plant and animal species. Global Climate Change is only the beginning, predications for the future from scientists are not too bight. Good job Cody!
